Rumours of an HD remake of Nintendo's 2006 Zelda game have been sweeping the internet, by why the hype? What was so great about this game that made peopl so excited for a new HD version for the Wii U or 3DS?
The answer is simple. Twilight princess is by far one of the most dynamic games of the zelda enterprise, second only to Majoras Mask, in many's opinions. Personally, it is one of my favorite games, and for many reasons.
The overall design of the game is outstanding. While playing off the original geography of Hyrule's Ocarina of time, We have some new aspects added to the fictional world of Hyrule, including snowpeak mountains, the City in the sky, and the small province of Ordon. The places that carried on from OoT show considerable change, but are still easily recognized. This includes, but is not limited to, the zora's Domain, Death Mountain, iconic Hyrule field, and Castle Town. It gives us an overall feeling of nostalgia as we travel place to place to fulfill different quests. However, all of these places show considerable signs of age, and in some cases, complete destruction. The player is given no context as to why these things have happened, but they do know that the friendly kokiri and gerudo from Ocarina of time knight very well be dead.
The graphics are also awe-inspiring. The game has a rather dark appeal, as I hinted at earlier. We are greeted by ghosts whom we could have saved but we too late, and early on the character, tranfigured into a beast, is attacked by his own friends and family. The game is similar to Majoras mask in its darkness, but it also adds something new. About one third of the game in played in a strange "shadow" realm, a twisted version of the same country. You are responsible for dispelling this to continue you quest
The gameplay is also exhilarating. We are not given the difficulty of ocarina of time, but neither the ease of Shyward sword. We have multiple weapons that can be organized into a
quick select menu, and are easy, convenient, and fun to use. The battles are incredibly enjoyable, as you can take down bosses that tower over you, including giant plant beasts, fire golems, sea monsters, and even dragons. The funnest battles had to bee with Zant and Ganondorf, the two prevailing villains. Not only was the atmosphere amazing, but it constantly changed. You had to adjust you strategy in themany different stages of these final battles. It was, however, very fun
Overall, I give this game 10/10
