Seraph of the end

Of all the anime series I have watched, none have truly tugged at my heartstrings like Owari no Seraph, or Seraph of the end. The series follows two characters, Yuuichiro and Mikela Hyakuya, two orphans who are the best of friends. It takes place in in a post-apocalyptic world, where all humans above the age of thirteen have died of a mysterious disease. Such a disaster gave opputunity to an underground community of vampires to rise and "adopt" the unattended children. While years go by and monsters ravage the surface, they stay safely underground, under the requirment that they must give blood daily.
The main characters, of course, grow a hatred for these vampires, and stage an escape plan. From there it all goes to chaos. The first episode truly starts off the series with a bang, and leaves the audience devastaed, yet begging for more. The rest of the series goes into a human-vampire war, humans armed with demon weapons and vampires with the more advanced tech, due to their access to airports.
The overall animation is stunning and very fluid, and you can tell the studio made good use of their budget. The music has a incredible effect on the mood, building up with the climax, and adding to the drama. The character development gives us a strong attachment to the main characters and their struggles. All of this makes for an incredibly emotional experience
I would highly recommend this show, but be prepared for minor violence and blood.
